What HIFU actually does
HIFU stands for high intensity focused ultrasound. A handpiece focuses ultrasound energy at a fixed depth under the skin, raising the temperature at that depth enough to injure the tissue in a controlled way. The body repairs that injury by producing collagen, and the skin sits tighter as it does.
The energy passes through the surface without breaking it, which is why there is no wound to care for afterwards. Different devices reach different depths. Depth is what separates a treatment aimed at the deep support layer from one aimed at the upper skin, and it is the thing worth asking a clinic about before the brand name.
What it does not fix
HIFU does not remove loose skin. If there is enough laxity that skin hangs, tightening the tissue underneath will not take it away, and a surgeon will give a straighter answer than a device will.
It does not treat pigmentation, acne scarring or broken capillaries, which are surface problems needing a different tool. It also does not replace volume. A face that has lost fat reads as hollow, and tightening a hollow face does not fill it.
Why prices differ so much between clinics
Two quotes for the same named treatment can differ several times over, and the usual reason is how much energy is delivered. The same device can be run over a small area or a large one, and the price follows the work done.
A quote that names only the device tells you little. A quote that names the device, the area covered and the number of sessions can be compared with another. This site publishes only the figures clinics put in public themselves, so what is comparable here is what they chose to state.
Where these figures came from, and who would not say
Simply Skin publishes a full Ultherapy price list on its own site, priced by the number of lines delivered, from 40 lines at the brow to 850 lines across the face. That is the clearest published pricing we found anywhere in this market, and it is the reason the table above can show a range at all.
We checked nineteen clinics that rank for these treatments in Metro Manila. Four publish a price anywhere on their own site. The rest, including CorDerm, SkinStation, Kamiseta Skin Clinic, Spectrumed, Avignon, Soi Clinic, Luminisce, Aivee and Shinagawa, publish none. That is not a criticism of them; it is the reason a page like this did not exist before.
Questions people ask
How much does HIFU cost in Makati?
Published prices vary with the area treated and the number of passes rather than with the clinic alone. This page lists only figures clinics published themselves, with the date each was checked. Where a clinic has not published a price, this page leaves the row out rather than estimating one.
How long before I see anything?
The tightening comes from new collagen, which takes time to form. Most published guidance puts the visible change between two and three months, continuing to around six.
Does it hurt?
It is usually described as brief heat or a prickling at each pulse, strongest over bone. It is tolerated without anaesthetic by most people, and clinics differ on whether they offer numbing cream.
How long do results last?
Collagen made after treatment behaves like the rest of your collagen and is lost again with age. Published guidance generally suggests a year to eighteen months before a repeat is considered.
Who should not have it?
Anyone pregnant, anyone with an active skin infection in the area, and anyone with significant laxity who would be better served by surgery. A clinic that does not raise the last point is not assessing you.
